1. Getting the Domain name:
Well you can buy a domain from www.eznetdomains.com if you want to.
They have a search engine to locate available names and so forth. I
recently purchased 2 from www.godaddy.com since they are very
inexpensive.
2. Hosting the site pages
You will need to develop your own pages for the web. Some use their
home site for this. Others locate hosting. envizion offers what they
call economy hosting through www.myfastsite.com. I would more likely
go to www.pair.com for all the inclusions and bandwidth they provide
for a low cost. Places like pair also will register the domain name,
however it will be at a higher cost.
3. The DNS-ing
When you host a site you will also needc DNS-ing, that is a DNS
server that hosts the records that will point to the location of
your files. This sometimes is included in your hosting package, or
like with envizion is often an extra cost. If you are using your
home site to host your files, you may want to check out a virtual
redirect for your domain through a company like
http://www.vdirect.com.
If you go this route, you will avoid the domain hosting cost and
dns-ing will be minimal, however, make sure all your pages will show
up as your domain name. Plan on knowing what you will be doing for
hosting and DNS-ing before you buy the domain so you will have the
DNS servers from the get go.
Essentially if you want to go inexpensive, you could buy a domain
for 2 years from http://www.godaddy.com for 17.95, and do the http://www.vdirect.com for two years for under 50 and come out with a 2 year
projected cost of under 75, not including your dialup cost.
On the other hand, if you want more bandwidth, and more space, as
well as server side scripting, check out

for the package.
